Trump's longstanding promise to build a great, great wall, and get Mexicans to pay for it might be only half true.
While the promise to build the wall stands, and according to sources Trump will be announcing it very soon, the part where Mexicans will pay for it is somewhat questionable, even though sort of stands at the same time.
The fact is that Mexican president has said that Mexico will not be paying for the wall. Former Mexican president Vicente Fox has said on live TV that "I'm Not Gonna Pay For That Fucking Wall". The current president, Enrique Peña Nieto, has managed to refrain from swearing, but has also said that "It is evident that we have some differences with the new government of the United States, like the topic of the wall, that Mexico of course will not pay."
However, indirectly, based on Trump's plans, Mexico might still be paying for it, while directly not. How so? Trump has plans to sign an executive order for DHS to publicly say what aid is currently directed to Mexico, and potentially redirect some of the money to wall's construction. Which means that the wall might be built with American money which was supposed to go to Mexico through some aid programs one way or another.
So what does logic say, will America or Mexico be paying for the wall?
